The Most Expensive Cat Food In The World Contains Caviar and Lobster

If you are reading this, it’s safe to assume that you are a cat extremist who strives to provide only the best for your precious fur child. While some cat owners are content with feeding their cats standard kibble or typical canned cat food, you are always on the lookout for something better. As humans, we are programmed to believe that “better” means expensive and marketers in the pet industry tend to exploit and play on our emotions to sell their products at eye-watering prices.

Using these trick tricks to target the super-rich and famous cat fanatics of the world, British pet food company Green Pantry claimed to have created the world’s most expensive cat food. Launched in 2016, British Banquet was developed to satisfy demand from celebrities and other VIPs who are financially capable of “treating their cats to the finer things in life”.

Arenkha caviar, line-caught Scottish salmon, hand-caught Norfolk lobster and Devon crab are used to create a grain-free and preservative-free feast for the posh cats of the insanely rich.

Each gourmet pack also includes organic asparagus, quinoa, and saffron for that “extra touch of luxury and refinement”. The cat food is completely free from preservatives, GM, additives and artificial colors.

British Banquet is not only fit for human consumption but tastes “absolutely wonderful” should owners feel tempted to try it, manufacturer Green Pantry claims.

Though the food is too expensive to mass-produce, bags of British Banquet can be purchased by special request only on the company’s website.

At the time of its launch in 2016, a 2kg bag of British Banquet was priced at $306 (R4500) – 30 times more than average “premium” cat food. Forbes reported the costs to be $11,000 for a year’s supply of British Banquet if you stay in the U.K and well over $13 000 (R190 000) for those living in another country.

If you can’t afford to feed your cat the world’s most expensive feline diet, don’t beat yourself up about it. Not many humans can, and those who do, are probably doing so to make themselves feel better for leaving their trophy cat all alone while they jet-set the world in search of more fame and fortune.

Expensive cat food is not necessarily better for cats just because it is expensive, but it often contains better ingredients like real meat and good-quality vitamins and minerals and some useful vegetable material. Read the label carefully — I repeat, carefully — and if you have questions about something listed, look it up. Grain-free cat food, like Acana, is by far the best option and even though it’s more expensive than regular cat food, like Pamper, it certainly won’t cost you an arm or a leg.
